we had the SMGU DJs on some shows this year playing glitchy raga jungle, dan and me playing worldbeat, we had some house DJs. not a lot of techno and psy really. breaks got a lot of play this year between mission, prof pious, me, mele et. al. but none of us are playing aug 10 so don't worry if you wanna drop breaks.

but as to what the crowds are having, it's so unpredictable. i didn't think house went over too well at the western front but at one of the outdoor parties last summer house was drivin em crazy. there's no substitute for trial and error ;-)

these parties have become raucous. the best quote i heard at our June party was the declaration "It's like San Francisco in Boston!

Circle was really breaks heavy over the past year at our weekly. (might have something to do with me getting involved in booking...) we have done some trance and techno, but we've definitely moved away from the mostly trance part of circle's past. The older we and our crowd gets the more open everyone has become to different types of electronic music. And actually, we sort of don't book a lot of psy at all anymore...

our very own dj pussywillow (steve) plays hiphop when he plays. I play salsa sometimes. the kitties love it when people really mix it up.

and we did have a good amount of drum and bass, too.

i ask because it's been a long time since i've been out there, and last time playing breaks felt like it was really "out there". (and that was fun.) but i know jeff mission and others have been pushing a multi-genre sound, and so maybe a wider range of dance music is being played in boston now.

perhaps a better question would be... what kinds of music have really been rocking the dancefloors out there? does the circle crowd still thrive on a diet of trance and techno, generally? is drum and bass/jungle still its own separate scene? is anyone playing baltimore club music?
