(might have something to do with me getting involved in booking...) we have done some trance and techno, but we've definitely moved away from the mostly trance part of circle's past. The older we and our crowd gets the more open everyone has become to different types of electronic music. And actually, we sort of don't book a lot of psy at all anymore... our very own dj pussywillow (steve) plays hiphop when he plays. I play salsa sometimes. the kitties love it when people really mix it up. and we did have a good amount of drum and bass, too. (and that was fun.) but i know jeff mission and others have been pushing a multi-genre sound, and so maybe a wider range of dance music is being played in boston now. perhaps a better question would be... what kinds of music have really been rocking the dancefloors out there? does the circle crowd still thrive on a diet of trance and techno, generally? is drum and bass/jungle still its own separate scene? is anyone playing baltimore club music?
