Check out the BU Spin Jam on Mondays at 6;30pm near BU. They meet in a park nearby. Check out that tribe for practice info and the location details. Also the Boston Hoop Troupe meets on Wednesday evenings around 6:00pm on the Cambridge Common near Harvard University for your Hooping pleasure... They are both in my tribe list.... It ain't Circle or Psyforia, but it will keep you spinning....

We are probably still going to do an August event. Maybe all day.... we'll keep everyone informed.

It's not really the Marsh Post. I mean, they are a space that was renting to people, and these guys wanted to rent it. The post couldn't've known that they were going to advertise as much as they did, which is what got them in the end. Neither of the groups using it before advertised except by private email list, so it never got any unwanted attention. And that's where the thing went wrong.

The manager at the post at this point is a friend of ours, and he feels really bad about the way things turned out. He would much rather have us still renting the space than anyone else... if that means we aren't going to.

Oh, I've been generating those kind of thoughts for weeks.

The sad thing is, as I said, is the other guys are unapologetic about the whole thing, claiming that the rules are the rules and they did nothing to further the demise of other events.

They are a completely commercial venture, claiming to be "bringing the underground nightlife back to Boston..." and "we felt there was a demand for outdoor events on the river..." then claiming that "NONE HAVE HAPPENED FOR 6 YEARS!" *cough*
Those are quotes from them, and also, another quote from an interview in Shebro magazine "It does help that we go into
everything from a business perspective. You gotta be able to take the underground culture and package it."

um, yeah.

Steve and I are kind of pissed.

I gather, I had no prior knowledge of the group before hand. My assumption is that the Am Legion realized they could turn a profit on the space ... aka sold out. No worries I plan on not going and have shared that with my friends (and pretty much anyone else who will listen). Major bummer. It's not like they don't already have every club in Boston. Ironically the folks I talked with said they had no idea what Psyforia was...

*deep breath* ok I'm moving on. Does no good to generate those kinds of thoughts. Any suggestions for other events to attend in the meantime? I just got my first hoop and have got the jones!

yes other events *are* happening... and that particular event is what ruined things for us at the marsh post.

if you love us, i would boycott those events.

those guys just completely bowled over our event and made it very difficult for us to do events there.

oh, and they are completely unapologetic about it.

So, due to irresponsible use of the space that some groups know and love...

Circle's Summer parties are, as it stands, canceled.

Other people that were renting the space didn't play by the rules, and now the space is in jeopardy for all future events there.

Yes Kitties!

Circle is hosting some summer parties.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Circle parties. That's
right... 10 years of good people, good music and good times.

Circle and thee Gnomefatty Kollectiv would like to announce (save the
dates!) TWO dates for the summer.

Outside at the American Legion Marsh Post:

Friday, July 11th .... (the weekend after Firefly, so be ready!)
Satyrday August 9th. (10th anniversary party - may be an all-day event.)
****we tentatively have a September date that will be announced later***

More details to follow, this is just a heads-up, to make sure all of
our beautiful party people have a date in their heads.

Don't miss it!

The music sounds better with you
