So... word on the street is that the Cambridge licensing board is not issuing any more permits for the Marsh Post Space. ...
effectively canceling our August and September parties.
We will have one if we can find a space to do so.
Got one in mind? Send me an email...

Re: Space seems permanently closed to us.
Tue, July 29, 2008 - 12:04 AMHeh.
You, uh.... know that we had stuff there for 3 years, right? We lost *that* space because developers put condos about 10 feet away from the building, and one of the owner's pictures were bouncing on his walls when we had a party.
That was.... every month from 2002-2005 I think.
Thanks for the suggestion, tho. *sigh*
oh, and they weren't that expensive.

Re: Space seems permanently closed to us.
Thu, July 24, 2008 - 8:40 AMWhat about the elks in central SQ? They hold Thunderdome parties and while not particularly fancy, the sounds proofing keeps the neighbors happy (inside space)

Re: Space seems permanently closed to us.
Thu, August 14, 2008 - 9:49 AMBecause, those are the douches that got it closed for us.
What happened was those dudes got attention that wasn't necessary from the licensing board. The charter for that space isn't for these types of parties. .. they can have "private events" some fundraisers.
So those assholes got attention that wasn't necessary, but then turned around, got buddy buddy with the licensing board, declared the rest of their parties as fundraisers, then... the board decides that people are just going to exploit that loophole, so when the people that have used the space for 5-9 years went to get a permit, they denied them all, fundraisers or not.
So, in the end, the douchbags win because, after fucking up the space for everyone else, they get to have parties there for the rest of the summer. .....
nice, huh?
and personally I wish we could call for a boycott or something.
I'm not afraid to say these guys are assholes. -

Re: Space seems permanently closed to us.
Thu, August 14, 2008 - 12:28 PMwe're working with the city council and the licensing commission to make sure everyone can use this space in the future. it would really help if we could all work together on this. get a petition going, make it clear to this city how important this spot is for everyone in the community. i don't know. positive energy usually leads to positive results. -

Re: Space seems permanently closed to us.
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 7:45 AMI own your words Daniel. I bought them on Ebay. Is this a circle vs psyphoria showdown going on here? Who is the other party throwing "fundraisers" ? -

Re: Space seems permanently closed to us.
Wed, September 3, 2008 - 9:10 AMNo no no....
Psyforia is still close to our hearts, they got fucked worse than we did by these actions. The other group is Soul Clap, a house music outfit....

Re: Space seems permanently closed to us.
Wed, September 3, 2008 - 12:41 PMWhy not do something at Redtail?? Hell all we really need is someplace outside and far away from people who might get annoyed and we can set up a system and dance in the woods or something!!
